Career Advancement & Special Mentions– Wamiq Haider

Meet Wamiq Haider.

When talking about career advancement at ibex. Pakistan (previously known as TRG Pakistan), it's almost impossible to not mention Wamiq Haider.

So, naturally, we had to go to him for a little trip down memory lane.

As soon as we started the conversation, Wamiq laughed and said,

"I left home to get my CNIC processed… and somehow ended up at TRG."

It was the morning of September 12, 2006. A 20-year-old, full of dreams and aspirations, stepped out hoping to land his very first job. He didn't know it yet, but this "temporary plan" was soon going to become a journey to long-term success.

Initially, Wamiq's plan was simple - work during the summer break. Nothing too serious. But from the very beginning, things started to shift.

He began his journey working on the pre-launch of one of our biggest clients, as part of the very first batch for the campaign. The environment, the exposure, and the experience at ibex. Pakistan, all tied in to make a positive impact in his life.

So when summer ended, Wamiq decided to stay.

That temporary plan slowly turned into something much bigger.

When asked what changed his mindset from short-term to long-term, Wamiq shared:

"Anything related to computers always interested me. I learned Microsoft Excel here, and I wanted to pursue it further and polish my skills. I was always very clear about what I wanted, and TRG believed in my potential. That's when I knew I could grow here."

From that point on, his plans became more focused.

"My first self-goal was to become a supervisor within three months," he said.

And he achieved that.

But that was just the beginning.

With each milestone, his ambitions grew stronger. His next goal was not just to get a better title, but to gain more exposure.

He wanted to explore every part of the organization. Understand how things worked. Learn beyond his role.

Within two years of working in operations, Wamiq identified a gap.

He realized the need for a more structured approach to workforce planning, especially since he was already working closely with analytics and reporting.

And that's where things changed.

In June 2008, WFM (Workforce Management) was formed.

A function that started as an idea, driven by curiosity and necessity.

"Till this day, I'm inquisitive about work," Wamiq says. "Not just WFM - I've worked across different areas… Finance, HR, and other support functions. As operations grew, everything grew. And I grew with it."

From starting as a customer service executive to now handling dual responsibilities of leading WFM and compliance, Wamiq's journey reflects what consistent learning and curiosity can do.

And despite how far he has come, his first promotion still remains his biggest accomplishment.

It wasn't just a title change. It was a manifestation of a better, successful career path. It helped him define long-term goals and set the pace for everything that followed.

When it comes to inspiration, Wamiq attributes it all to his father. He recalls how his father would read multiple newspapers every single day, even if the information was the same. Every few days, he would pick up a new book.

This constant flow of learning and gaining new information made him continuously move forward, rather than staying stuck in one place.

Like father, like son. That curiosity, that hunger to keep learning, reflected clearly in Wamiq's own journey.

And when it comes to advice, he keeps it simple, yet impactful:

"20% of the right efforts result in 80% efficiency. Use your time and thoughts wisely."

For Wamiq, ibex. Pakistan has never just been a workplace. Although, initially it might have been.

But it became a place of learning for them. A place where growth wasn't just about moving up, but about understanding more, doing more, and becoming more.

At the end of the interview, Wamiq leaves off with a note:

"ibex. Pakistan is not just an organization, it's an institution. You don't just grow here, you learn."
