Technology has revolutionized the world. From globalization to AI. And in recent years, it has experienced massive growth. Especially in Pakistan, where the IT sector has bloomed beyond anticipation.
But for a long time, this industry was perceived as being biased towards only one gender. It took time to challenge the age-old notion, but we have finally come to a stage where we are offering opportunities equally for all genders.
The truth is that every career requires compromise and the ability to find an appropriate work life balance. And a career in ICT (information and communication technology) is no different.
Women In Tech
In recent times, more and more female leaders are emerging not only in the ICT world but across other industries as well. They are aspiring to become doctors, engineers, CEOs, etc.
And they are also making waves in the ICT industry and striving for management and leadership positions. Now they aren't just using technology, they are building a future around it.
Despite the gender gap in ICT, many brilliant women have made invaluable contributions to science and technology.
Platforms in Tech
In today's workplace, women are taking over. And many are leading with names. They are building platforms that give innovators a chance to shine.
For example, the world's largest startup platform, She Loves Tech, offers female entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their startup ideas, gain mentorship, and take their ventures to the next level. It has impacted the lives of more than 25,000 women across Pakistan by inspiring them toward tech entrepreneurship.
One such platform is led by a superwoman named Kalsoom Lakhani, founder and CEO of Invest2Innovate. She started a venture to support seed stage social enterprises and provide them access to capital in new markets.
Furthermore, Hafsa Shorish, directed an accelerated program, PlanX, which was established to support mid stage startups. It has become another milestone in strengthening the tech culture and empowering females.
Another example of a superwoman is Arusha Imtiaz, the co-founder of an edtech startup named MySmacEd (now rebranded as Edjunction). It is a communication platform that enables interaction between parents, teachers, students, and administrators.
